Three Prayers to The Blessed Virgin Mary for all Virtues, especially purity

1. I venerate Thee with my whole heart, O Most Holy Virgin, above all the Angels and Saints in Heaven, ad Daughter of the Eternal Father; and I consecrate to Thee my soul with all its faculties.

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY FOR PURITY

Oh, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Virgin Most Pure, mindful of the terrible moral dangers threatening on all sides, and aware of my own human weakness, I voluntarily place myself, body and soul, this day and always, under Thy loving maternal care and protection. I consecrate to Thee my body, with all its members, asking Thee to help me never to use it as an occasion of sin to others. Help me to remember that my body is the “Temple of the Holy Ghost,” and to use it according to God’s Holy Will for my own personal salvation, and the salvation of others. I consecrate to Thee my soul, asking Thee to watch over it, and to bring it home safe to Thee and to Jesus in Heaven for all eternity. O Mary, my Mother, all that I am, all that I have is Thine. Keep me and guard me under Thy mantle of mercy, as thy personal property and possession.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love Thee; save souls!
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.

PRAYER TO SAINT MARIA GORETTI FOR PURITY

O St. Maria Goretti, strengthened by God’s grace, Thou didst not hesitate, even at the age of eleven, to shed Thy blood and sacrifice life itself to defend Thy virginal purity. Look graciously on the unhappy human race that has strayed far from the path of eternal salvation. Teach us that courage and promptness in fleeing temptation that will help us avoid anything that could offend Jesus or stain our souls with sin. Obtain for us a great horror of impurity and of all sin, victory in temptation, comfort in the sorrows of life, and the grace which we earnestly beg of Thee, so that we may live a holy life on earth and win eternal glory in Heaven. Amen.

PRAYER TO SAINT JOSEPH FOR PURITY

O Guardian of Virgins and holy Father St. Joseph, into whose faithful keeping were entrusted Christ Jesus, Innocence itself, and Mary, Virgin of virgins, I pray and beseech Thee by these dear pledges, Jesus and Mary, that, being preserved from all uncleanness, I may with spotless mind, pure heart and chaste body ever serve Jesus and Mary most chastely all the days of my life. Amen

Signal Graces obtained through St. Joseph’s intercession

From Mary of Agreda’s City of God, we learn the following consoling revelations:

• “First, those who invoke him shall obtain from God, by his intercession, the gift of chastity, and shall not be conquered by the temptation of the senses;

• Secondly, they shall receive particular graces to deliver them from sin;

• Thirdly, they shall obtain a true devotion to the Blessed Virgin;

• Fourthly, they shall have a good and happy death, and in that all-decisive moment be defended against the assaults of Satan;

• Fifthly, they shall be delivered when expedient for them, from bodily sufferings, and shall find help in their afflictions;
.
• Sixthly, if married, they shall be blessed with offspring;

• Seventhly, the demons shall have extreme dread of the glorious name of St. Joseph.

With so many graces to be obtained through his powerful intercession, let us not tarry nor hesitate in asking humbly for the protection and aid of dear St. Joseph, Terror of demons!

PRAYER TO SAINT ALOYSIUS TO BE SAID BY YOUNG MEN FOR PURITY
.
O most glorious Saint Aloysius, who hast been honored by the Church with the fair title of “angelic youth,” because of the life of utmost purity Thou didst lead here on earth, I come before Thy presence this day with all the devotion of my mind and heart. O perfect exemplar, kind and powerful patron of young men, how great is my need of Thee! The world and the devil are trying to ensnare me; I am conscious of the arbor of my passions; I know full well the weakness of inconstancy of my age. Who shall be able to keep me safe if not Thou, O Saint of angelic purity, the glory and honor, the loving protector of youth? To Thee, therefore, I have recourse with all my soul, to Thee I commit myself with all my heart. I hearby resolve, promise and desire to be especially devout toward Thee, to glorify Thee by imitating thy extraordinary virtues and in particular thy angelic purity, to copy Thy example, and to promote devotion to Thee among companions. O dear Saint Aloysius, do Thou guard and defend me always, in order that, under Thy protection and following Thy example, I may one day be able to join with Thee in seeing and praising my God forever in Heaven. PRAYER TO THE VIRGIN MARY AND ST. JOSEPH FOR PURITY
.
Mary, Mother most pure, and Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin, to Thee I entrust the purity of my soul and body. I beg Thee to plead with God for me that I may never for the remainder of my life soil my soul by any sin of impurity. I earnestly wish to be pure in thought, word and deed in imitation of Thine own Holy Purity. Obtain for me a deep sense of modesty, which will be reflected in my external conduct. Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul, from anything that might dim the luster of a heart that must mirror only Christ-like Purity. And when the “Bread of Angels” becomes my food in Holy Communion, seal my heart forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures. Finally, may I be among the number of those of whom Jesus spoke, “Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God.” Amen.

O most pure Virgin, glorious Martyr, St. Philomena, whom God in His eternal power has revealed to the world in these unhappy days in order to revive the faith, sustain the hope and enkindle the charity of Christian souls, behold me prostate at Thy feet. Deign, O Virgin, full of goodness and kindness, to receive my humble prayers and to obtain for me that purity for which Thou didst sacrifice the most alluring pleasures of the world, that strength of soul which made Thee resist the most terrible attacks and that ardent love for our Lord Jesus Christ, which the most frightful torments could not extinguish in Thee. So, that wearing Thy holy cord and imitating thee in this life, I may one day be crowned with Thee in Heaven. Amen.

PRAYER TO SAINT GEMMA GALGANI FOR PURITY

Oh devout virgin Saint Gemma, Thou once prayed: “To come to Heaven requires purity of heart: give it to me, my Jesus; Yes, I so desire purity of heart!” And then, turning also to the Blessed Virgin Mary for Her heavenly help Thou once said: “Blessed Mother, never allow me to lose holy purity. Place me under Thine mantle, guard this treasure for me, and I shall become more pleasing to Jesus.”

We turn to Thee then, Oh holy Gemma, and we make Thy prayers to Jesus and Mary our own, calling upon Thine Heavenly assistance for the grace of Holy Purity. Assist us then, dear Gemma, in obtaining this precious jewel from Jesus, with the help of our beloved Mother Mary. Be our heavenly friend and patroness, and lead us ever closer into the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the infinite source of purity. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

A heroic example of St Gemma’s desire for purity: Among the devout practices that Gemma performed to obtain and preserve holy purity was one that was taught to her at a very young age by her solicitous mother. Together with her mother they would recite devoutly every evening while kneeling with their hands under their knees, three Hail Marys to the Queen of Heaven in honor of her Immaculate Conception. The innocent child, though knowing so little at that early age, took keenly to this devotion and never omitted it, continuing this holy practice daily until the end of her life. In fact, a few days before her death, finding herself alone, although she had lost all strength and could not stand, she rose, and taken by surprise by a visitor, she was found kneeling with her hands beneath her knees, reciting her usual 3 Hail Mary’s for purity. Thus, even extreme illness did not dampen her desire for holy purity.
