St. Peregrine Daily Prayer (Patron Saint of Cancer)

Patronage: persons suffering from cancer, Aids, or other illnesses
.
I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men: For kings, and for all that are in high station: that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
(1 Timothy 2:1-4)
.
And another angel came, and stood before the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer of the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar, which is before the throne of God. And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God from the hand of the angel. (Rev. 8:3-4)

Keep us, O Lord, as the apple of Thy eye,

In the shadow of Thy wings protect us.

FOR SICK RELATIVES AND FRIENDS
.
O great St. Peregrine, thou who hast been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker”
because of the numerous miracles which thou hast obtained from God
for those who have had recourse to thee, thou who for so many years
didst bear in thine own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys
the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace
when the power of man could do no more;
thou who wast favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross
to heal thy affliction, ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of these sick persons
whom we entrust to thee.
.
(Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick persons for whom you are praying.)
.
Aided in this way by thy powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Amen.

PRAYER TO THE MOTHER OF SORROWS
THROUGH THE INTERCESSION OF SAINT PEREGRINE
.
O my dearest Mother Mary, Mother of
Sorrows, behold me, thy child, in prayer.
I have come to plead for this special favor
through the intercession of thy faithful servant,
Saint Peregrine. (Mention your request.)
.
O Sorrowful Mother, I beg thee to present my petition to thy Divine Son. If thou wilt pray for me, I cannot be refused.
.
I know, dearest Mother, that thou doth want me to seek God’s will in all things.
.
Therefore, with childlike trust I abandon myself to God’s Holy Will
concerning my request. If what I ask for should not be granted,
pray that I may receive that which will be of greater benefit to my soul.
.
Mother of Sorrows, I love thee!
.
I put all my confidence in thee, because thy prayers before God are most powerful.
For the greater glory of God and through the intercession of St. Peregrine,
whom thou hast led to Sainthood, hear and grant my prayer. Amen.

St. Peregrine was born in 1260 at Forlì, Italy to an affluent family. He lived a comfortable life as a youth, and politically opposed the papacy. After he experienced the forgiveness of St. Philip Benizi, he changed his life and joined the Servite order. He was ordained a priest, and later returned to his home to establish a Servite community. There he was widely known for his preaching, penances, and counsel in the confessional. He was cured of cancer, after he received a vision of Christ on the cross reaching out His hand to touch his impaired limb. He died in 1345 and was canonized in 1726. He is the patron of cancer patients.
